Lotus Cortina Register Celebrates More Than Four Decades of Preserving an Automotive Icon

The Lotus Cortina Register (LCR) continues to play a vital role in preserving the heritage, authenticity, and enjoyment of one of Britain’s most celebrated performance cars. Established in 1979, the organisation has grown into a global community dedicated to supporting owners and enthusiasts of the Mark I, Mark II, and Crayford Lotus Cortina models.

Over the past 40+ years, the Register has built an extensive archive of historical records, documenting more than 1,800 Lotus Cortinas worldwide. The organisation also holds copies of original Lotus factory records for a significant number of Mark I vehicles, making it one of the most authoritative resources available for owners seeking to verify authenticity, research vehicle history, or support restoration projects.

Today, the Lotus Cortina Register serves a truly international membership base, with enthusiasts located throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Africa. The club’s mission remains focused on providing technical guidance, historical knowledge, vehicle inspections, and a supportive community for those passionate about these iconic cars.

The Register is led by a dedicated team of volunteers and specialists, including founding member and Chairman & Treasurer David Missions, who has been involved with Lotus Cortinas for nearly six decades. Membership Secretary and Registrar Rikki Nock brings more than 30 years of experience in maintaining the Register and assisting owners with vehicle research, inspections, and ownership advice.

In addition to its extensive archive and expert support network, the Lotus Cortina Register organises shows, meetings, and enthusiast events that help bring together owners from around the world. These gatherings provide opportunities to showcase vehicles, exchange knowledge, and celebrate the unique legacy of the Lotus Cortina.

As a member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, the Register also supports broader efforts to preserve historic vehicles and maintain the freedom to enjoy them on public roads.

For classic car enthusiasts, restorers, and prospective buyers alike, the Lotus Cortina Register remains an invaluable resource, helping to ensure that the legacy of the Lotus Cortina continues to thrive for future generations.
